Chad is a native to the Bayou City. He feels this is a particularly funky town precisely for this reason - the Bayou.
The word bayou derives from a Louisianan corruption of the Choctaw work bayuk, which means "small stream." Small stream is not exactly precise for the human-enhanced, cybertronic variety of Houston Bayou, which is an offshoot of the shipping channel which comes from the Gulf of Mexico into Houston proper. It is a symbol for all things peculiar about H-town, with pollution and natural splendor in equal quantity. Take some time, canoe down it one day.
His research work is in the fields of Galton-Watson processes, microarray normalization, and genome scale data mining.

Other interests include all things mathematical, jazz, This American Life and jokes.
